MEET DR. LEIGHANN RECHTIN
Assistant Vice-President of Talent and Organizational Development, Ivy Tech Community College
In the role of AVP, Talent and Organizational Development at Ivy Tech Community College, Leighann is responsible for leading talent development efforts to ensure Ivy Tech maintains a skilled and motivated workforce to meet its talent needs and drive success. She and her team collaborate with leaders to support a culture of creative problem solving through training, coaching, and facilitation methods. She helps to design processes and collaborates with key partners around employee performance feedback, including 360 degree assessments, Individual Development Plans, onboarding, mentoring and succession planning. She also consults with and advises executive-level leaders to drive systemic change in strategic management of talent, and is instrumental in leading the College in innovative practices.
As a former full-time Communication Professor, corporate trainer, and faculty professional development director, Leighann Rechtin has a significant background in communication skills and pedagogy. This includes a focus on public speaking skills, team development, persuasion, interpersonal, family, cultural, gendered, and strategic communication. Leighann has led faculty professional development sessions centered on several best practices utilized in the classroom, specifically focusing on assessment, online student engagement, applied learning, strengths, and innovation.
Leighann earned her Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Kentucky University. Her dissertation was focused on faculty development specifically evaluating a Best Practices in Teaching course. She also has a Master of Education in Human Resource Development from Xavier University and her Master of Arts in Communication from Northern Kentucky University. She currently resides in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky with her husband Zach. They have three sons: Tate (21), Ruben (18) and Wyet (13). Her family are big soccer fans and athletes, spending most of their time on or around a soccer pitch.
